Amandla means Power.
Power to the People.
Power to You.

During the apartheid era, the word “Amandla” was a powerful rallying cry. When leaders like Nelson Mandela shouted “Amandla!“ with a raised fist, the crowd would respond with “Awethu!”, meaning “To us” effectively conveying the collective power of the people.  The word “Amandla“ is still associated with the struggle for freedom and liberation and continues to be used in South Africa as a symbol of empowerment.

A South African inspired keepsake.
